I’m still in Punta Cana and had the absolute pleasure of touring the oh so very romantic Melia Caribe Tropical All Inclusive. The gardens are beautiful and the lighting makes it so romantic. There are a lot of nooks and crannies to hide away in. This is a very large resort and we needed a tram to go around. What makes the grounds very unique are the many cacti here. You would think that you were in the American Southwest, and they are beautifully intermingled with the many different kinds of palm trees and tropical flowers. Peacocks freely roam the grounds and they make a very loud, “sounds like a cat screaming or baby crying” sound.
One of my favorite things to see is the weddings they hold. They were setting up the wedding gazebo on the beach and it was simply stunning. They had rose petals on the walkway leading up the gazebo with pink flowers and white ribbon sashes also leading the way. The gazebo was adorned in white and pink, which was amazing to see against the white sand and turquoise blue water background. They were getting ready for a sunset wedding, which will be amazing to behold. I’ll post photos in a few days.
On the flip side (or result of) the romance of the resort are the kids programs. The resort has a Flintstone’s theme for the kids from the pool area to the kids club to the characters roaming around to tonight’s entertainment. It’s a lot of fun and there are a lot of families with kids around. But you’d never know it because it is so spread out, so mellow and quiet. The only squawking you hear is from the peacocks.
We had the honor of dining at the sumptuous La Hacienda Mexican restaurant. It was the most elegant dining experience I’ve had in a very long time. It was a massive table holding all 30 of us, with 6 different drinking glasses and silver fighter rooster statues on the table. I took photographs of the lobster and shrimp cerviche in a carved melon, the delicious steak and sinful stuffed apple with Gran Marnier. And the wine and champagne was flowly freely. Forgot to mention that we were greeted by rum and coconut milk served in large carved out coconuts. And entering the restaurant was quite a treat. I entered on the arm of a very lovely and funny distinguished gentleman ( my husband is not here) being fanned from behind by an wonderful executive of Melia Resorts. A very special evening!
